Week 3

This one will be short.

Perhaps it's getting redundant for me to keep saying work is keeping me busy, but it really is. Including travel time and leaving early/staying late to eat, my days are 10-11 hours long. (As I mentioned I get paid for travel expenses, so I am reimbursed for the extra time, more or less.) I did a shift-exchange this week so I wound up with only Wednesday off. In exchange I get three days off in a row next week. (Hopefully that will allow me to go places and do things I can write about.)

On my one day off this week I took one of my roommates parents (who have been in town for two weeks) to the Imperial Palace. It was the same as two years ago (probably the same as it has been for many hundreds of years.) After a nice lunch we parted ways, as they went back to the apartment, and I went to my favorite place on earth: Akihabara. Akihabara, too, has not changed much in two years. Many of the same shops I regularly visited are still there. There are a few new buildings (which I saw construction on started last time) and a few buildings which are in the process of being rebuilt. After walking around a while I took my old line, the Sobu train (past Ichigaya and Nihon Daigaku) to Shinjuku Station. Then took the rapid train back to Fujisawa.

Yesterday before work I went to City Hall to pick up my Gaijin-Card. I'm now an official registered alien resident of Japan! When I got home from work I found that my bank card had arrived, so now I can get paid this month too (well, next month, I get paid on the 15th for the previous month's work.)

I must now be off, I start a weekend of early shifts today (Friday) because of another shift-exchange (I can usually sleep in on Fridays.) Until next week:

Jaa Mata Ne!
